This is why I will never get this procedure done. I already am in my 40s and my close up vision is still very good. This is a characteristic of being nearsighted. Normally, people develop a type of farsightedness when they get older. I have not. The only time I have a problem is when I'm wearing my contact lenses. Then I can't see close up very well and need reading glasses. Otherwise, it's quite odd to see a middle-aged person taking off the glasses to read or look at something close up like I do. Most people my age put on glasses for those reasons.
