I just had Lasik in January. From my understanding your vision after surgery is not supposed to deteriorate (they permanently remove tissue to reshape your cornea to correct your vision). My boss had it 10 years ago and she still has 20/15 vision (better than 20/20). As you get older though the only thing that deteriorates is your near vision as you naturally would around the age of 45, but your distance vision should stay the same. Everyone is different but it's definitely worth it. Try for a custom or high definition type Lasik, worth the extra bucks

This is an excellent textbook for beginning LASIK surgeons, including ophthalmology residents and surgeons new to the procedure. It has many helpful, practical parts, including even a sample consent form. The review is thorough, and gives much information on current technology. Unfortunately, the editing (at least in the edition I read, which I think was earlier than this edition) is terrible. A good high school English teacher should have been hired to clean up the grammar, at the least. Most of the editing problems can be overlooked, but a few (such as a mis-statement of the Munnerlyn formula) could cause the reader serious misunderstandings. Overall, a good book, and probably the best out there for getting started.
