What is the cost of Lasik surgery? Is it worth it? What side effects does it have?

I've been wearing glasses forever. Recently I've been thinking about getting Lasik for my eyes. I'm a little afraid that will have all kinds of side effects. I have 30 years something. What I do fit. I'm so tired of wearing glasses. I not only can not see my "real" face, I hate to depend on my glasses so much. My father used to call "handicap" when I needed glasses at 10 … Please help.

Hey Julie! The cost of LASIK varies depending on several factors including the type of procedure, the physician, etc. The new technology allows for ultra-precise and personalized treatment, including Custom Wavefront technology, and all laser LASIK with IntraLase ®, tend to increase the price. Your decision should incorporate financing options, the reputation of the practice LASIK, LASIK surgery technology used, and perhaps, most importantly, the surgeon's skill and experience. Doing your research is critical when it comes to your vision and long-term health of your eyes. Regarding side effects, I can appreciate and understand their concerns. Like any surgical procedure, possible side effects (if minimal) may vary type of procedure, equipment used and the amount of correction needed. The most common side effects such as irritation of the surface and dry eyes, usually resolve in the days and weeks following the procedure. As always, it is best to visit your LASIK center to speak to a doctor who can provide information specific about you and your eyes, everyone's eyes are different. Also, you may find useful LasikPlus Facebook page to answer any questions may have by reading about the experiences of people who have had Lasik and even speaks with real doctors.
