What is Lasik?

LASIK. A very fashionable word for years. Although the majority of most people know that it means going to wear glasses or contact lenses not to wear glasses or contact lenses, people really do not know what LASIK.

LASIK is an acronym for laser assisted in situ keratomileusis. Basically, it is a procedure that permanently changes the shape of the cornea (the clear covering in front of the eye) using an excimer laser.

The procedure itself is fairly short and simple. To begin with, you relax in a chair recliner while put anesthetic drops in his eyes. Once the drops have taken effect, a special device used to keep my eyes open with care so that not blink during the procedure. Then, the LASIK surgeon cuts a small flap of the top of the cornea.

This program Custom is used as the laser reshapes your cornea quickly. Once done, the LASIK surgeon puts the lid down so that it can seal and heal itself. It does not require stitches. And that's all. From beginning to end, the whole process only takes about 15 minutes per eye.

The morning after LASIK, probably be around 90% to improve vision and can go to work if desired. The improvement of another 10% will occur in the next two or three weeks, as the eye recovers from being worked.

LASIK surgery has helped many people with really poor vision to see clearly again. Instead of having to catch their glasses before they can even get out of bed and walk in the morning, may well be able to open their eyes and see clearly all by yourself.
