What the future holds for LASIK eye surgery?

I go to school to become a commercial pilot. Obviously, my career depends on being able to see 20/20 with or without correction (I'm 20/200 without contact, slight astigmatism). I have 30 years but have seen eye surgery all my life. (Even back RK in the day). Obviously the technology has improved by leaps and bounds. When released LASIK thought how could be better than this? My best friend is an MD and he told me postponed for a few years (it was 4-5 years) and now we wavefront custom LASIK. I've had friends who have done so with excellent results. Now with advances of wavefront LASIK, what else is on the horizon?? These are some stellar new techniques currently under development to be launched in the coming 4-5 years? My eye doctor is suggesting PRK. night vision problems also could end my career. I heard that there is less chance of vision Night Pool (halos / startbursts) with PRK. The Navy only allows surgery PRK for its pilots.

You're right about the side effects. That's what is that I stopped to do the procedure so far. There is a lot more, but the main side effects are dry eyes and halos. I saw a little more mentioned here http://lasereyesurgerytruth.com/vision/latest/be-aware-of-these-laser-eye-surgery-complications-2.html

IIRC, there’s at least one practitioner in Jacksonville advertising for something like $1000 per eye, which would be less than half what you’ve been quoted in DB.

Muthu S. is right. I know Chodhary Eye centre. Five years ago I operated my eyes there. Dr. Sanjay Chodhary is very reputed & good doctor. If you want further information regarding him. You can mail me.

Most pleased, but my night vision took about a year to settle down.
