Since others have already answered your question I just want to point out that there are some eye exercises as alternative that can help myopia. I have a friend who used to suffer from myopia and he managed to improve his eyesight completely with eye exercises.

The correct answers…
1. Yes. The thickness of your cornea and how myopic you are depends on the amount of correction that can be performed.
2. The correction they performed lasts forever BUT if your eye is still changing (resulting in a prescription change) then the results would not correct you forever.
3. The holes in your retina will still be there (cause by myopic eyes being longer and stretching the retina) because your eye is still a “myopic” eyeball. Therefore it will still be vital for regular eye examinations to monitor the retinal holes.
4. See 1
5. See 1
6. Very small risk but there are other more common complications. Do research if you are serious about this.
7. No

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.
Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.http://www.indianhealthguru.com
Hope this helps.

I had it done 3 days ago – amazing!! After being short-sighted (myopic) nearly all my life it is really life-changing.
There are risks involved of course – they make you watch a video beforehand outlining these. The risks are minimal though. I would go and get assessed – normally this is free – your optician could organise it. They will be able to discuss the health of your cornea, see if you are a candidate, and answer all your questions. If your eye prescription hasn’t changed in several years (mine had levelled out to -6 and -5.5 for the last few years) then you are probably a good candidate. If it’s still getting worse then they might advise you to wait a few more years. I have really eased off my contact lens wearing for the past year and a month before surgery I wasn’t allowed to wear contacts at all. It made a huge difference to the overall health of my eye.
Normally if they need to do any further adjustments it is included in the price. 3 days after surgery I have better than 20/20 vision, and my eyes are just a little dry so I have to keep putting drops in. I am driving, and back at work.
Apparently after the age of 40 the eye muscle relaxes, resulting in the need for reading glasses – this is part of getting old!

3. Myopia doesn’t cause holes in your retina.

i had the old radial ketromy done twice, first time 20/20 lasted about 4 years then again and lasted about 2 years, now im back to glasses, but i suffer at night whilst driving, the oncoming light scatters in all the scars, cant see well then, and i also have ghosting vision, maybe this laser technology is much better than yester years ways.

It depends on the surgeon and the procedure. If it is LASIK most doctors do both eyes the same day. There are still some doctors who prefer to do them a week or so apart.
